Adding to this buzz, TikToker @Nicoletravelandlife posted a video showcasing her budget-friendly haul at a local Romanian supermarket, Mega Image. “Just come to Romania, and it’s apparently very cheap here. So we’ve come to the supermarket, gonna grab a basket, and I’ll let you know how cheap it is,” she declared in her viral clip.

Wandering through the aisles, Nicole couldn’t hide her amazement at the cost of everyday items like milk – a mere 14p per pint, compared to around 85p back home in Britain.

“Bargain,” she exclaimed. Her discoveries continued with other eye-catching deals: a whole chicken for £1.50, fresh broccoli at 7p, and avocados priced ludicrously low at 2p.

Not stopping there, Nicole picked up a hefty bottle of Disaronno for just £9 and a refreshing bottle of orange juice for 60p, noting these were far cheaper than typical UK store prices, reports the Express.

The quirky nuances of Romanian supermarkets also caught Nicole’s attention, such as cereals being sold in bags instead of the boxes Europeans are accustomed to.

She was impressed by the vibrant display of fruit and veg and pointed out that despite Romania importing many goods, the prices remain astonishingly low.

At the till, she couldn’t believe her eyes when the bill for a whopping 30-plus items was just £20 – a mere slice of what it would set you back in Blighty. “The real truth of how much it costs,” she exclaimed, proudly presenting her substantial bounty.
