Occasional Digest - a story for you

KATE Garraway looked seriously stylish on Thursday’s episode of Good Morning Britain as she modelled the trouser of the season.

The 57-year-old looked ready for spring in a pair of Phase Eight cream trousers team with an L.K.Bennett polka dot blouse, and we’ve tracked down how to shop Kate’s look for less.

EXACT MATCH: Phase Eight Textured Trousers, £129

Cream trousers are everywhere right now, and the lightweight design of Kate’s pair is ideal for the warmer weather.

The ITV presenter’s luxe £129 Phase Eight Trousers don’t come cheap, but Mango has an almost identical pair for £69 less.

The high-street trousers feature the same figure-flattering waistband, with a similar wide-leg cut that could be styled with heels, trainers or sandals.

As the unpredictable weather makes the transitional seasons the most difficult to dress for (particularly when it comes to workwear), the trouser trend is making spring styling easier.

While I haven’t tried the trousers myself, the relaxed silhouette looks comfortable enough for wearing all day, while the cream colourway is an easy way to brighten up your wardrobe without stepping away from the neutrals.

The fitted waistband gives a sophisticated twist on the classic wide-leg cut, making the trousers an ideal choice for the office.

The elegant design could be dressed up with blouse to channel Kate’s look, or dressed down with a knitted sweater vest for a chic finish.

Kate completed her workwear look with an L.K.Bennett polka dot blouse, which looked timeless with its structured collar and subtle ruching on the shoulders and cuffs.

Boden has a cheaper alternative to the £249 blouse, and the £66 shirt has received positive reviews online.

One shopper wrote: “I love these shirts. They fit beautifully and give me a trim shape, I’m still wearing two that I bought many years ago.”

Another added: “Lovely shirt, perfect fit, just love that I could buy this in a petite size.”

Fashion experts always recommend finding a pair of wide-leg trousers when building out a capsule wardrobe, largely because they can be worn in so many ways.

Whether it’s trainers and knitwear for everyday dressing to blazers and heels for more formal occasions, a cream trouser is one that will definitely get it’s wear in a wardrobe.

The wide-leg trouser trend won’t be slowing down anytime soon, and Mango’s cream pair is likely to be trend all season.
