ADDING a touch of class to your home doesn’t have to break the bank.
There are plenty of ways to give your room a glow up while keeping to a budget.
One money-minded DIYer has shared a clever hack that totally transformed their bathroom, and you can copy the look for as little as £18.
Danny and Christina, from Charleston, South Carolina, renovate houses together and post their stunning property transformations to their TikTok account @dgilpinproperties.
Their smart tip has so far racked up over 7 million views.
They captioned their clip: “Proof that limewash makes your house look more expensive.”
Their video showed a dark green bathroom with white panelling, which looked in need of a major update.
Using a limewash paint, Santos by Color Atelier, they applied a generous coat to the wall in sweeping criss-cross motion.
The neutral paint was a stunning beige colour and, once dried, its textured effect gave the bathroom a modern, trendy feel.
The renovators complimented the new walls with gorgeous black and gold fittings.
Danny and Christina described the brushed effect walls as: “A unique way to make your home look high-end.”
TikTok users react
Users in the comments adored the updated bathroom.
One person wrote: “Obsessed with limewash.”
A second person said: “Looks soooo good!”
A third person chimed in: “I was so nervous watching this, but the end result is fantastic!”
While somebody else added: “Texture is everything in home decor in my opinion.”
And another user wrote: “I love the way that looks.”
Getting the look on a budget
Although limewash paint is typically more expensive than normal paint, it is still a cost-effective alternative to other methods like wallpapering.
There are also plenty of affordable paints on the market that provide a similar textured look.
Wickes’ Crown Emulsion Interior Paint has a suede effect and leaves walls with a ‘soft, natural brushed effect’ similar to a limewash finish.
The textured finish paint costs just £18 for a 2.5L tub and comes in a variety of colours.
