The iconic red wide body Italian sports car is one of just 101 right-hand drive versions supplied to the UK.

And this one could be the rarest of them all after being uprated with wider wheels, having engine modifications and reshaped bodywork supplied by Maranello Concessionaires.

Vince Mezzullo, an employee from the dealer became friends with the owner and maintained the vehicle.

The sleek road car is finished in the classic Ferrari colour of Rosso Chiaro with black hide and carpets.

Under the hood is an impressive 5 litre version of the 12-cylinder boxer.

The motor has a hair-raising top speed of 188mph.

It is said to be inspired by the factory sanctioned 512 BB Competizione cars which were campaigned by Charles Pozzi and NART at the 1978 Le Mans 24-hours.

The Ferrari will be going on sale on April 9 at 9am.

H&H Classics will be running the auction at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, in Cambridgeshire.

John Markey, motorcar specialist at H&H Classics, said: “This Ferrari ‘Wide Body’ was commissioned by a serial Ferrari owner and while other Ferrari’s came and went, and not to mention other high-performance machines, this Prancing Horse always remained in his collection as a firm favourite.

“This ‘Wide Body’ enjoys a host of bespoke cosmetic and mechanical enhancements and has been in ownership of the Morello family from new.

“It is a unique BB and has ultra-low mileage, making it worthy of close inspection.”

The rare Ferrari is expected to sell for between £150,000 and £170,000.

But of course, it is not the only vintage vehicle that will be under the gavel at Duxford Airfield.

H&H will also be overseeing the sales of a 1924 Rolls-Royce Springfield, a 1966 TVR Griffith, a 1973 Lamborghini Espada, and many others.

The more modern offerings include a 1999 Lotus Elise 111S, a 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo, a 2010 Ford Focus RS, and a 2000 Subaru Impreza P1.

Meanwhile, a British classic from the swinging 60s is set to be auctioned off in Milan, Italy.

The highly coveted 1965 DB Short-Chassis Volante could be yours for a staggering £600,000 as the sleek vintage Aston Martin goes on sale.

It is the rarest series production convertible Aston Martin ever made, being one of just 37.

RM Sotheby’s will be running an auction for the highly-sought after vehicle.
