I spent an hour at the nail shop to get white acrylics – people say it looks like they’ve been painted with ‘Tipp-Ex’

Occasional Digest - a story for you

ONE woman was left with ”Tipp-Ex” nails after her visit to the beauty salon went awfully wrong.

Wanting to treat herself, brunette stunner Masey Elizabeth decided to pop down to a nail store to get white acrylics – but the visit to the shop went from bad to worse in just moments.

According to Masey, she had booked an appointment at 3pm and had shown one of the workers an image of the design she had in mind.

Although Masey noted that they had agreed on a price beforehand, the salon kept adding to the total – £5 for the length of the acrylics and a further £5 for a matt top coat.

”At this point, I’m like ‘Whatever – I just want to get them done,” said Masey.

Throughout the appointment, the beauty buff – who hadn’t visited the salon previously – realised there were a few odd ”things here and there”.

However, not one to judge too quickly, she decided to give the nail artist the benefit of the doubt and trusted ”the process”.

She told fellow TikTok users: ”I was quoted – when I got in there – £48. Where I usually go, like where I live, I think the max I usually pay is £40.”

Over an hour later, after the mega long nails had been painted, Masey asked the artist behind the masterpiece whether he could ”neaten them up” – and this is where it all started to go horribly wrong.

According to the brown-eyed beauty, the man was allegedly using a little drill to remove the white paint from her skin.

However, during the harsh and painful tidy-up process, the nail shop worker also removed some of the paint around the actual acrylic – some of which was also sitting on the cuticle.

Dissatisfied with the makeover which the salon wanted to charge her for, the young woman told the man she wasn’t happy with how the nails looked.

Beauty fans can get their nails done professionally for just £5 in Superdrug – here’s how

”They’re all chipped, they’re all scuffed, they’re all not painted properly, they’re all different shapes and sizes.”

After some back and forth with the workers – who were pleased with their work – a female member allegedly stepped into the drama.

”She was like ‘Oh, if you’re not gonna pay, I’ll cut them off’.”

Masey then offered to pay the sum she thought the nails were worth – £35 – as she refused to fork out close to £50 for the monstrosity.

What age can you take kid to get their nails done?

MUMS have sparked controversy after allowing their kids to get acrylic nails. But just how old do they have to be to be allowed to get them done legally.

According to the National Occupational Standards, anyone under the age of 16 has to be accompanied by an adult.

They also need written consent from a parents or guardian.

It’s also a good idea to check that the salon you’re planning to go to – just to ask if they offer services to children.

However, the salon workers weren’t accepting the £15 reduction and one of them stood in front of the door to prevent Masey from exiting the shop.

”[He] wouldn’t let me out – touching my shoulder, pushing me.

”Then the other woman pipes up that works there and she’s getting in my face, shouting.”

A while later, Masey, who was there with her pal, are finally set free – however, with a dark spell.

”She [the female worker] looks at me and goes ‘You – you’re very unlucky’.

”And then she looks at my friend and goes like ‘You are very lucky – she very unlucky’.”

’35p more like’

Since being posted on the platform, where Masey shares content under the username @maseyelizabethxx, the clip has taken the internet by storm.

Almost 600 of the 500k viewers flooded to comments – and it’s not just the young woman who was horrified by disaster of a manicure.

One person said: ”Naaa, looks like when we painted Tipp-Ex our nails at school.”

A beauty pro chimed in: ”Can’t believe they did you dirty like that.

”£5 extra for top coat? No ma’am! As a nail tech myself, charging people extra for a different top coat is MADNESS in itself.”

Another was gobsmacked by the price of the service: ”£35????? Girl that’s WAY more than reasonable!! 35p more like.”

”it’s illegal to keep you trapped in it’s entrapment,” someone else pointed out.
