Bingham’s route to the final

Stuart Bingham is set to take part in his first ranking final for SIX years.

Here is how the 2015 world champion got to the World Grand Prix final:

  • Mark Williams 2-4 Stuart Bingham (Last-32)
  • Stuart Bingham 4-2 Wu Yize (Last-16)
  • Stuart Bingham 5-4 Mark Selby (Quarter-finals)
  • Judd Trump 3-6 Stuart Bingham (Semi-finals)

Early start

It’s going to be an early one tomorrow morning if you’re watching from the UK or Europe.

The final is set to get underway at 5am UK time.

We will have live updates and frame-by-frame coverage from 7am – lazy, I know.

But with the game going to best of 19 (first of 10), we shouldn’t have missed too much by then.

Mrs Bingham gets it wrong

Bingham also revealed how his wife switched off his matches EARLY as she thought he’d already won!

He said: “”I’ve got a great story from last night. I rang my wife and she asked what happened. I said that I won.

“Because the first two games were best of sevens, she switched it off at 4-2. When she found out she was amazed.

“I rang her today and reminded her it was first to six!

“That was my final, to get into the Players Championship. I can relax tomorrow and it is a nice payday.

“I’ll be trying as hard as I can to get my hands on that trophy though.”

Bingham fights back tears

Bingham spoke a bit more about the massive win that gets him back into a final.

He revealed he had to fight back tears at the emotion of it.

“I’m over the moon. I had a little tear there at the table, because it has been a long time. It has been hard.”

Bingham had a very tough task making the final, beating THREE world champions en route to Sunday’s match.

He beat Mark Williams, Wu Yize and Mark Selby before his brilliant win against Judd Trump.

Bingham added: “Without a doubt, I’ve wondered if I ever would get back in a ranking final.

“The last few years haven’t been good on my part. I’ve been searching and trying things.

“This week it has clicked for me. I’ve got through matches without feeling the best, but now I’m in the final.”

‘The only downside…’

Robertson added: “I feel great. The only downside to making the final is I don’t get to see the LIV Golf.

“Am I close to being back to my best? Yeah, I am. 100%. What I’m doing in practice is nuts.

“I need to be able to push the boundaries in tournaments to see what I can take from practice.

“I cannot let the horse dash off too far ahead.”
