At least 12 people have been injured in a shooting at a pub in Toronto

Four injuries are said to be not life-threatening, cops said, but the extent of the injuries for the others was unknown at this time.

They said they were called to reports of a shooting at the Piper Arms pub in Scarborough, a district in Toronto, at around 10:39pm local time.

Officials are urging people to avoid the scene at Progress Ave and Corporate Drive.

Armed cops and several ambulances and fire engines are pictured at the area as the hunt for the balaclavad suspect continues.

Paramedics told Canada’s CP24 Media it was a “dynamic situation,” adding that the injuries ranged from minor to critical.

Mayor of Toronto Olivia Chow said: “I am deeply troubled to hear reports of a shooting at a pub in Scarborough.

“I have spoken to [Toronto Police Chief Myron] Demkiw and he has assured me all necessary resources have been deployed. This is an early and ongoing investigation – police will provide further details.

“My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
