PARENTS are racing to their local Aldi to try and nab bargains for just 6p.
Shoppers took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook to boast about their purchases, which saved them tonnes compared to the original prices.
Mum Tia posted on the social media site that she’d managed to find an EVO unicorn scooter for her little one for the minuscule amount, despite the fact it retails at £29.99 elsewhere.
“Local aldi had a scooter scanning at 6p!!!!!” she wrote.
And others were quick to comment on the post, with one admitting: “Would have got another one for that.
“In fact all the kids in the family!”
“They literally had one,” Tia replied.
“I did go back and try and find more!”
“Whatttt?!” a third questioned
“I bought this for £10 when it was on offer lol!”
“Which aldi is this? Sometime ago it was on offer for £15,” someone else wrote.
Tia revealed she’d picked up the mega bargain at the Aldi in Huddersfield, Slaithwaite.
“Well done!” another said.
In a description of the scooter from EVO, they revealed that the “three-wheel trendsetter” features a “funky unicorn on the handle”.
“This scooter helps kids strengthen their balance and coordination,” the description continued.
“Hit the streets with the two 120mm wheels at the front – they use a lean-to-steer system for a secure ride, plus loads of thrilling fun!”
And Tia wasn’t the only one who managed to get an epic deal.
Tricia also grabbed one, after finding a Matchstick Monkey baby teether and organic muslin gift set for 6p.
Why do Aldi and Lidl have such fast checkouts
IF you’ve ever shopped in Aldi or Lidl then you’ll probably have experienced its ultra-fast checkout staff.
Aldi’s speedy reputation is no mistake, in fact, the supermarket claims that its tills are 40 per cent quicker than rivals.
It’s all part of Aldi’s plan to be as efficient as possible – and this, the budget shop claims, helps keep costs low for shoppers.
Efficient barcodes on packaging means staff are able to scan items as quickly as possible, with the majority of products having multiple barcodes to speed up the process.
It also uses “shelf-ready” packaging which keeps costs low when it comes to replenishing stock.
“Aldi Newton Stewart, bargain of the day!” she wrote.
“£5.99 down to 6p!!!!!”
However, on the Matchstick Monkey website, the gift sets are still on sale for a whopping £17.99.
“There were 2 left, so I had to get them for my great-grandson,” Tricia added.
Incredulous shoppers were also stunned by her find, with one exclaiming: “Whatttttt?”
The Matchstick Monkey teether Matchstick Monkey has won multiple awards since it first hit shelves, including the Mother & Baby Awards in 2019 and 2020, and a Bronze award at the 2024 National Parenting Product Awards.
And the positive reviews have flooded in from impressed parents, with one writing: “My little one absolutely loves his monkey…
“So much so I have gone on to buy a couple more for him as well as gifts for other friends little ones!”
“My son LOVES his Matchstick Monkey,” another gushed.
“He’s 4 months old and holds the little arms and pushes the monkeys head into his mouth and just gives the best smile.
“It really helps with the teething and it’s a lovely colourful toy too.
“Such a fab little tether toy!”
