Occasional Digest - a story for you

SUPER SUNDAY!

Afternoon all, and what a blockbuster game we have ahead of us for this weekend’s final Premier League slot.

The Champions face the Champions elect (?). It may not be the yesteryears of Pep vs Kloop, 1st vs 2nd etc. etc.

Whichever way you want to look at it, it’s still Manchester City vs Liverpool — a fixture that tends to deliver more often than not, even if the hosts are experiencing an identity crisis to put it frankly.

The last time City were on the global screens, Kylian Mbappé took them to the sword in the Champions League. Three of the best, you know the rest. As league action goes, a 4-0 win over Newcastle gave Guardiola some hope that his side can still remain semi-competitive on the domestic front but nowhere near today’s visitors.

Arne Slot was questioned when his side dropped points at Villa Park on Wednesday night, and turned the head of querys towards Darwin Núñez in his post-match.

The Reds gave Arsenal some sight in the title race only for their North London rivals to hand the initiative back into Liverpool’s hands following their loss yesterday.

A win for Merseyside club will take them 11 points clear at the top. Kick-off at 4.30pm GMT, team news to come.
