Feb. 20 (UPI) — Sea Life Florida Aquarium will open May 23rd in Winter Haven next door to Legoland Florida, the company announced Thursday.

The aquarium will be opening just a week after the grand opening of Epic Universe theme park in Orlando and will feature 3,000 marine animals, including blacktip reef sharks, stingrays and big-belly seahorses, the aquarium said. It will feature a 150,000-gallon ocean habitat.

The aquarium will include 25 interactive exhibits and a 180-degree ocean tunnel that will surround visitors with up close and intimate views of sea life, and will feature a “Theme Park Under the Sea” display, the company said.

“One really cool feature we’re going to have is this Ferris wheel,” curator Sarah McMahon said in a video released by the attraction. “We’ll have underwater fiberoptic lighting so each one of these clam shells will actually be lit up under water.”

The new aquarium is among a cluster of theme parks in the area owned or operated by Merlin Entertainments Group, which also owns the Peppa Pig Theme Park, and operates the Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds and another Sea Life Orlando aquarium at Icon Park. The company makes package ticket deals available for people who want to attend more than one park on the same trip.
