A FIRE has broken out at a luxury five star hotel as 100 people have been evacuated from the historic building.

Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone, central London, has been engulfed by a blaze that has torn through the ground floor up to the roof of the historic building.

London Fire Brigade said the celebrity hotspot was suffering from an inferno, with its ducting in the extraction system on fire.

It said in a statement: “Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters have been called to a fire at a hotel and restaurant on Chiltern Street in Marylebone.

“The ducting in the extraction system from the ground floor to the roof of the building is alight.

“Around 100 people were evacuated before the Brigade arrived.

“The Brigade was called at 1452.

“Fire crews from Soho, Euston and Paddington fire stations are at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is not known at this time.”
