The megastar has more than 20 Top 40 singles to his name, and has worked with the liked of BeyoncéSia, Clean Bandit and Little Mix.

The music star reflected on his past collaborations, hailing his 2006 track Break It Off with Rihanna as his favourite.

Speaking exclusively with The Sun, he said: The one with me and Rihanna that’s a long time song and I used to sing that a lot of times on the stage for quite some years.

“It went to number nine on the radio playlist and back in those days that was a big deal.

“We didn’t get to do a video and we didn’t tour and sing it together but I used to sing it without her for quite some time, just trying to promote it.

“Two huge Caribbean artists at the time, I think you could arguably say I was more of a star or public personality than she was.

“But, you know I’ve been nothing but proud seeing her climb up the entertainment ladders and just prove herself every time that she’s, an artist to make a mark and to be reckoned with.

The Jamaican born singer was asked if she was his favourite collab, to which he replied: “I do, I’ve always said that.”

Sean went on to describe how the Diamonds hit-maker came all the way to Jamaica to record the forgotten track: “Back in those days, even now, I have to go away to record or people send me vocals via the internet.

“She was the one who was like, I want to come to Jamaica and when she came she went straight to Bob Marley Museum and that touched my musical heart.

“We went to the beach, club and street dance and eventually to the studio because we weren’t planning on doing a song. She just wanted to come to Jamaica and experience it.

“We ended up in the studio doing a song which just turned out to be one of my big songs in my set and something I’m proud of to this day.”

In April, Sean will be co-headlining alongside Ashanti as the pair set off to take the UK by storm with their biggest tour here yet.

Speaking on the tour and Ashanti, he admitted: “For years I’ve been wanting to do music with her, we’ve been in the studio a couple of times but never did any music and I think this is just the next best thing.

Hoping to ‘bridge a gap musically’ when the pair hit the stage, the global superstar revealed what fans can expect.

He said: “Energy, vibes, dancing, sweating, jumping and bag of things.

“You know, Dancehall music is especially oriented that way but I try to give my all in the performances it’s going to be a contrast obviously because Ashanti’s R&B sexy, sultry sound is going to be the other side of the coin.”

The singer is no stranger to the stage, having embarked on multiple tours and delivering countless performances over the years.

When asked about the wildest thing he’s ever witnessed in a crowd, he admitted: “Mosh pits are always interesting to see you know, ladies throwing their brassieres or panties at me is another interesting thing but mainly it’s a good time.

“I’ve seen people become overwhelmed with emotions and that’s always amazing to know that music can touch people’s heart like that, or mind or soul.”

Sean Paul is a Grammy-winning Jamaican dancehall rapper and reggae artist.

The singer first rose to fame with the Dutty Cup Crew in the 90s before hitting the big time when he kicked off his solo career in 2000.

He has released seven solo studio albums, and has been nominated for nine Grammy Awards, winning one in 2004.

Some of his biggest hits include, Gimme the Light (2002), Get Busy (2002)and She Doesn’t Mind (2011).
