JUST Stop Oil eco-idiots stormed a West End stage while film star Sigourney Weaver was performing as the theatre show descended into mayhem.

Chaos unfolded at a production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London at around 8pm on Monday.

A video shared by Just Stop Oil shows mother of three Hayley Walsh and mechanical engineer Richard Weir walking on stage where Alien star Weaver, 75, is performing.

Carrying a sign that reads “over 1.5 degrees is a global shipwreck”, the pair launch a confetti cannon while a voice says “we’ll have to stop the show ladies and gentlemen, sorry”.

The audience began shouting “get them off” alongside boos and whistles, with Weaver being escorted off the stage from her chair.

Social media has erupted with people criticising the protestors actions, with one saying: “Disrupting art and a performance is not cool”.

Another said “bloody idiots” while a third added “people are sick to death of you, all you are doing is alienating people”.

The production at the Theatre Royal has been running since December 7 but has been met with mixed reviews.

Its final show is expected to take place this Saturday.

Just Stop Oil’s headline-grabbing stunts in recent years have included an invasion at Lord’s during the second Ashes test in June 2023.

England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow carried one trespasser off the playing area.

A demonstrator scattered orange confetti during a match at Wimbledon while another targeted The Open at Royal Liverpool Golf Club on the Wirral.

Yet another threw orange powder after climbing on a table at the Snooker World Championship at Sheffield’s Crucible.

The Grand National, Derby and British Grand Prix were also targeted.

The Metropolitan Police have been approached for comment.
