Game over – Paxton wins incredible semi-final

Gourlay and Paxton go into the final End of the tiebreak with one point apiece.

Gourlay’s first shot is short but is better than Paxton’s which ends up being overhit.

Bowl two is perfect from Gourlay as it rolls in towards the jack and covers the head from the mat.

However, Paxton responds with arguably the shot of the game by rolling his bowl around the other side and squeezing in between the red bowl and jack.

Just as Paxton looks to have put himself in a strong position, Gourlay manages to one-up him by changing his hand and rolling up the same side and seeing his bowl kiss between the jack and green bowl.

After a tense wait, Paxton manages to thread the needle between two red bowls and hit the jack away with his green being the closest.

What an incredible tiebreak and what an incredible shot to win the match on.

Score update – Nothing to split them

Gourlay uses his momentum to take first blood in the tiebreak.

But End 2 sees Paxton find his own groove again as Gourlay is forced into an aggressive play but fails to smash the green bowl away, instead only seeing his bowl smashed far away.

Paxton then precisely rolls a second bowl up to the jack, to give Gourlay a tough cannon shot – which he proceeds to miss entirely.

Final End coming up.
