Arsenal chasing highly-rated wonderkid

Arsenal are working on a deal to sign midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg, according to The Athletic.

Dialogue between the clubs and with the player’s representatives is advancing, as Arsenal try to land the 18-year-old Norway youth international.

However, a firm decision on his future has yet to be made and no agreements are in place — meaning the situation remains open.

Man City eye Bayern star

Manchester City are ‘exploring a sensational late deal’ to sign Bayern Munich standout Joshua Kimmich this month, according to Florian Plettenberg.

He explained: “Joshua #Kimmich is taking his time deciding on a contract extension beyond 2025. Max Eberl is determined to keep him at Bayern. There is still concrete interest from England and Spain, notably from Manchester City and Barcelona.

“Liverpool, as confirmed by close sources, is not currently pursuing him actively, partly because the club is overstaffed in central midfield and focusing on other profiles. #LFC

“The trend points toward an extension with FC Bayern, especially as his family prefers to stay in Munich. Top player. Future captain.”

Villa name Duran asking prize

Aston Villa will consider offers for Jhon Duran amid interest from Arsenal and Chelsea – but only if they receive an astronomical bid.

Duran is one of the most sought after strikers in the world right now, with West Ham, PSG and Al Nassr among the teams hoping to sign him this January.

The Irons recently had a £57million bid rejected while Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr want the Colombian as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who is out of contract at the end of the season.

However Duran could end up costing £85m, according to talkSPORT.

Arteta asks players for advice

Mikel Arteta is consulting his Arsenal stars on which striker to sign before the transfer window slams shut.

But with just over a week until the window shuts, Arteta appears no closer to bringing in a new face with key target Benjamin Sesko looking likely to remain at Red Bull Leipzig barring a hefty late bid.

The north Londoners have also been linked with moves for Alexander Isak, Dusan Vlahovic and Matheus Cunha.

Arteta says he “always” consults his players about potential incomings or specific individuals he is trying to bring to the club.

He added: “That’s getting us away from the computer and what the data is saying. It is real. I have seen it, I sense it.

“A player can score a lot of goals, great. How does this player react when he hasn’t scored for six or seven games?

“This is what I am interested in.

“So when you have a player that has spent a lot of days with [a transfer target], that is really valuable information to have.”

He’s the One for Spurs

Tottenham are interested in signing Sheffield United star Ryan One, according to TBR Football.

Ipswich have also made an enquiry about the Scottish youth star, who could be knocked down the pecking order at Bramall Road after the arrivals of Tom Cannon and Ben Brereton-Diaz.

Scouts from RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg have watched One, while Brighton too have a long-standing interest.
