Deserved
“It’s the scoreline Shaun deserves,” John Parrott said. “He’s been the better player by a long chalk this afternoon – 6-2 is absolutely fair.
“His opponent has had limited opportunities, I’ll give you that, but he’s also looked a bit flat.”
Kyren Wilson 2-6 Shaun Murphy
It’s back-to-back centuries for the Magician Shaun Murphy! There’s no doubting that it’s the scoreline he deserves against a Kyren Wilson, who’s looked flat and had limited opportunities.
A 116 break to finish proceedings for the afternoon.
“A dominant performance by Shaun Murphy. His positional success is at 96%, which just shows you the command he’s had on the cue ball when he’s got in,” said Stephen Hendry.
“He’s just not looked like making a mistake and looked totally focused.
“There have been times in Shaun’s career when you see him, he’s looking around the arena and he doesn’t look fully into the match. But you can just see in his facial expression all week.”
Kyren Wilson 2-5 Shaun Murphy
Century break! Order has been restored for Shaun Murphy after his small glitch in that last frame. The Magician makes it look so easy when he’s playing like this and restores his three-frame advantage with a powerful century – his fourth of the week!
Kyren Wilson 2-4 Shaun Murphy
Massive! That was so important for Kyren Wilson, who seized on a missed plant from Shaun Murphy to reduce the deficit. Murphy might just be kicking himself – there was an easier option on but his aggressive play stitched him up a bit there.
Kyren Wilson 1-4 Shaun Murphy (24-30)
Yeah, it was a bit too messy despite Kyren Wilson’s best efforts and a couple of lovely pots. A red stays in the corner jaws and Shaun Murphy once again arrives to try and do some damage.
Stephen Hendry on the commentary is absolutely right. He says that Kyren seems to be doing all the hard work for not many points, while Murphy does heavy damage, quickly.
Kyren Wilson 1-4 Shaun Murphy (1-14)
I may have spoken too soon. It’s got very messy all of a sudden with Kyren Wilson back to try and sort out this table with both the high value colours tied up.
