British pair Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool have reached the third round of the Australian Open men’s doubles by beating Mexico’s Santiago Gonzalez and Austria’s Lucas Miedler.
The 11th seeds won 6-4 4-6 6-4 inside one hour and 49 minutes, becoming the only Britons to win on day seven in Melbourne.
Tenth seeds Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski fell to a 6-2 6-4 defeat by Sweden’s Andre Goransson and Dutchman Sem Verbeek, while fellow Briton Luke Johnson also exited the competition.
Johnson, alongside the Netherlands’ Sander Arends, lost 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (9-7) to French 16th seeds Fabien Reboul and Sadio Doumbia.
Elsewhere, Britain’s Harriet Dart and France’s Diane Parry were defeated 6-0 6-3 by fifth seeds Chan Hao-ching of Chinese Taipei and Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Kichenok in the women’s doubles.
Salisbury also exited in the mixed doubles alongside Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko, losing 3-6 6-3 10-1 to New Zealand’s second seeds Michael Venus and Erin Routliffe.
