A BRIDE has gone viral after she washed off her professional make-up just 20 minutes before saying ‘I Do’.
But make-up artists have globally united and have claimed her actions are worse than Mean Girls.
Lauren Avery Holmes left people stunned after sharing a clip online of her removing a full face of paid-for make-up on her big day.
The blonde beauty, who is from California, showed off her professional make-up, which we think looks great – but she wasn’t so keen.
The clip, which has now racked up millions of views, was posted with the caption ‘redoing my make-up 20 minutes before my first look, no offence to the make-up artist I just didn’t feel like myself’.
Lauren explained that she “hated” the make-up so much that she “decided to wash it off” and redo it herself.

In the viral video, Lauren was seen in a bathroom whilst her bridesmaid held her hair back, as she said: “Washing off my bridal make-up.”
As she used water in an attempt to get the make-up off, she admitted: “I’m shaking, I think it’s just anxiety.”
To this, her bridesmaid attempted to reassure her and responded: “It’s ok, you can redo it. It’s always perfect when you do it, it always looks so pretty.”
Clearly uncomfortable with the situation, Lauren added: “I’m scared she’s gonna wanna do touch-ups on me. I don’t wanna see her, I feel bad but I don’t like it.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
Lauren then confessed that she was “trying so hard to like” the make-up, but was unhappy with the finished look.
She claimed: “She also didn’t blend in my neck at all, there’s no make-up on my neck.”
Later in the clip, Lauren was seen applying her own make-up, as a bridesmaid was heard saying: “In pictures it’s going to look so much better too.”

Lauren
Lauren described the frantic moment as a “core memory” and later confirmed that whilst she had asked for a “natural” and “glowy” look, with blusher and bronzer, she was given a “very powdery” style.
She claimed that the make-up made her look “like one colour” and “very pale” and as a result, she “didn’t feel” herself.
At the end of the clip, Lauren shared a stunning picture of her once she had redone her make-up, as well as a clip as she posed in her wedding dress, finally ready to head to the altar after her “horror” experience.
Social media users react
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @laurenaveryh, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as at the time of writing, it had quickly racked up 30 million views in just two days.
But social media users were totally stunned by Lauren’s clip – and thought that the make-up she did looked ‘exactly the same’ as how the professional had done it.
Mean girl vibes. Loved the makeup artist job

One person said: “Dare I say.. it looks exactly the same.”
Another added: “Girl be for real, that looked EXACTLY THE SAME.”
A third commented: “The way it looks exactly the same.”
MUAs unite
Not only this, but make-up professionals from around the world united in the comments, sharing support for the artist.
One beauty pro wrote: “This gives mean girl energy, if the makeup artist sees this, you did an amazing job.”
A second chimed in: “Mean girl vibes. Loved the makeup artist job.”
Whilst someone else penned: “As a makeup artist, please let us know, I know it can be awkward but we want to make sure we create a look you’ll love! Also, trials prior to your day, help us a lot.”
Twirly Shears responds
Following the viral clip, the make-up artist responsible for Lauren’s “fever dream” took to social media to respond.
In her first ever TikTok video, which has quickly racked up 19.7 million views, Twirly Shears, a licensed cosmetologist, admitted: “Well, it’s me. I’m that make-up artist. I honestly was shocked to see this.”
The make-up artist then claimed: “There were no indicators that she was unhappy, honestly.”
Twirly explained that she has been doing bridal make-up for over 20 years and has learned to “communicate very well with my brides” and “read body language”, to which she didn’t spot any cues that Lauren wasn’t happy with her work.
She continued: “I was looking back at my messages with this bride just to see what our interaction was like – she did have a preview [trial] with me and she was happy.
There were no indicators that she was unhappy, honestly

“There were a few things she wanted to change – her eyeshadow colour she wanted to change, she wanted to add a little more bronzer, she did mention in her message that she loved her lip and cheek colour, so I kept that the same.”
The make-up artist confirmed that on the wedding day, she made the changes Lauren had asked for and it “seemed that she was happy”.
Not only this, but Twirly claimed that Lauren gave her the “biggest smile” she had “ever seen of a bride”.
Twirly claimed that seeing a client washing off their make-up doesn’t bother her, but she was “hurt” to see that it was Lauren, who she described as “so sweet” and “easy to work”.
Twirly then advised future brides to “communicate” when getting their make-up done and thanked the “support” she had received from the make-up artist community.
She shared: “I’ve received hundreds of messages in the last couple days, just showing love and support and that means the world to me. So thank you for that.”
