A LAWYER abducted by the ex-leader of Bangladesh says police raided his home after Treasury Minister Tulip Siddiq was asked about his plight.

Mir Ahmad bin Quasem, being held prisoner at the time, said members of Bangladesh’s Rapid Action Battalion told his wife to “remain low”.

It came in 2017 just after Ms Siddiq was challenged on Channel 4 News to make a phone call to help him.

He told the Financial Times: “Tulip being confronted clearly struck a chord somewhere within the ruling dynasty.”

Quasem was snatched in 2016 while working for his father, an opposition party leader.

He was released in August after ex-leader Sheikh Hasina was swept from power.

Anti-corruption minister Ms Siddiq has referred herself to ethics watchdogs over her alleged links to the ousted regime.

The home had ties to her aunt Sheikh Hasina who resigned last year as the country’s leader after being blasted for crushing dissent.
