The Portuguese defender spots the run of Amad into the area, and appears to pick him out beautifully with an inviting cross.

But somehow, for some reason, the United winger goes too quickly, and moves himself ahead of the ball by the tmie it arrives, and subsequently fails to connect properly with the header.

A lucky escape for Liverpool.

18. Mac Allister excels again.

The Argentine first breaks up play after Maguire had threatened to knock down a United set-piece, and then sprays play upfield for Diaz.

Dalot comes to United’s rescue on this occasion.

16. Now Onana denies Mac Allister!

A beautiful lofted cross from Salah is perfect for the late run into the area of the former Brighton midfielder, and his first-time effort on the half-volley clatters into the legs of the United goalkeeper.

Liverpool are starting to take charge with Gravenberch opening the United defence up.

The Dutchman’s through ball finds his compatriot on the run, and Gakpo’s flick over Onana with the outside of his right boot whistles just past the post.

A poor clearance from Martinez tees up Alexander-Arnold outside the box; the defender’s shot is blocked, but the rebound falls for Diaz, who spoons over from just inside the area.
