In his viral video, TikTok user Loren Kreiss (@lorenkreiss) talked his followers through the trends he predicts will take off this year and those he recommends leaving behind in 2024.

For his first tip, the expert explained that painting your walls, ceiling, and trim the same neutral colour is “in.”

“It’s been the standard for top interior designers for years, and it’s finally time for you to get on board,” he told his audience.

The “new neutrals” Loren suggests focusing on are taupe-y, ivory, and creams.

He described each of these shades as “leading the warm neutral revolution.”

As well as neutrals, Loren revealed that the “new ‘90s” is also set to become a thing.

He gave examples of the updated ‘90s design trends, which included natural oak, beige, lime wash, and travertine.

The interior designer also listed the “natural, timeless design philosophies” that can transform a space.

These included quiet luxury, wabi sabi, and japandi, which he said are “so ancient they’re contemporary and never go out of style.”

As well as predicting what will be coming into fashion, he revealed what will no longer be on trend.

First, he explained why you should avoid white paint for your interior decor.

“White ceiling and trim, it’s giving grandma and looks sloppy and unpolished,” the TikToker said.

He also advised his audience against “cottage core maximalism,” including bold colours and patterns.

“They’ll turn your home into hoarder hell and make it look like you’re a unicorn with the runs,” he joked.

According to the expert, you should also steer clear of “cheesy 2010 design fads.”

He gave the examples of “white kitchen cabinets, modern farmhouse, and sad millennial grey colour palettes.”

The interior design pro said each of these trends will “make a mockery of your home.”

He went on to reference other “ridiculous design choices that need to be cancelled.”

These included man caves, recliners, and dupes and knockoffs of other furniture items.

Loren described each of these trends as “an absolute abomination.”
