Some people opt to name their child after a family member, whilst others choose to name their offspring after a favourite book or film character.

However, one woman has taken to the list of school subjects to find inspiration for her daughter’s name.

Taking to Reddit, another woman revealed that she “can’t get over” the fact that she recently spotted a child who was named “Khemistry”.

“I’ve got nothing against the kid, it’s not her fault,” she said.

“But my God, the name is horrible.

“I feel so bad for this little girl.”

Reddit users flooded the comments section of the post, to share their thoughts on the unusual name choice.

One person said: “That name is a crime.”

Another person joked: “Maybe she’ll meet Fysixs and they’ll be best friends.”

A third person said: “As a Chemistry student, I do not approve this message.”

I named my baby after a wild dog – people openly torment me & the hospital nurses laughed, it really suits her

And Khemistry’s mother isn’t the only parent to be slammed over their choice of baby name lately.

Taking to Reddit, a mum-to-be revealed that she likes “funky” spellings of names, for example ‘Saylor’ instead of Sailor or ‘Kiely’ instead of ‘Kylie’.

Looking for advice, she said: “How do we feel about funky spellings of names?

“As mentioned previously, my baby girl is due in six months and my husband loves Kiely as an alternate spelling of Kylie.

Banned Names in the UK

The UK has no law restricting names, but names that contain obscenities, numerals, misleading titles, or are impossible to pronounce are likely to be rejected when registering a child.

  • Hitler
  • Monkey
  • Cyanide
  • Martian
  • Akuma
  • Chow Tow
  • Rogue

“I love Saylor as an alternate spelling of Sailor.”

“Am I damning my child to mispronunciation and misspelling of her name forever?

“Is it in bad taste to name my kid a name with a goofy spelling?

One person said: “Yes, you are damning her to 80+ years of having to correct people or suck up having her name be mispronounced or spelt.

“It just seems unfair to saddle a person with this extra work.”

A second person said: “I think weird spellings is a bad trend. Pick a name that you like but also your child won’t be laughed at for.

“I personally would not recommend either of those names.”
