Dec. 15 (UPI) — Actor Jamie Foxx is recovering from injuries he sustained during an altercation at his birthday dinner Friday night in a Beverly Hills restaurant, his spokesperson said Sunday.
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” a spokesperson for Foxx said, according to CNN “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
Beverly Hills police responded to the incident at Mr. Chow restaurant shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, according to a social media post.
“Upon investigation, officers determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded. Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties,” the BHPD wrote on Facebook.
“The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made.” The police report does not mention Foxx by name.
The actor took to social media to reassure his fans and express gratitude for their concern.
“…. thank you to everybody that pray and check on me…,” Foxx wrote on Instagram.
Witnesses reported that people seated next to Foxx in the family were hurling vulgar insults at the actor, who asked them to stop because his family was at the table with him.
“…which is when someone at that table allegedly threw the glass that hit him in the face,” one witness told TMZ.
Foxx was with his daughters, Corinne and Anelise Foxx, along with his ex-wife Kristin Grannis.
Foxx has been recovering from a stroke and brain bleed, an incident he chronicles in a new Netflix stand-up special, “What Had Happened Was…”
Foxx was reported to be having health issues after suffering an episode while filming his new movie Back in Action.
“It is a mystery,” the Oscar-winning actor said in the Netflix special. “We still don’t know exactly what happened to me. April 11, I was having a bad headache and I asked my boy for an aspirin. And I realized quickly that when you’re in a medical emergency, your boys don’t know what the f**k to do,” he said in the special. “Before I could get the aspirin I went out,” he said. “I don’t remember 20 days.”
