Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria will be free on the Epic Games Store until December 19, 2024, at 4pm UK time / 11am ET.

Return to Moria is a survival crafting game set in the underground dwarven city we know from the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books and films.

Playing as a group of dwarves, you are tasked with restoring Moria and the dwarven kingdom of Khazad-dûm to its former glory.

The game has just received its 2024 Winter Update, bringing bug fixes and the option to apply cosmetic skins to change what your character’s armour looks like.

Naturally, as a game set in one of the dwarf realms of Tolkien’s Middle-earth, it gives off cosy Christmas vibes, making it perfect to play this holiday season.

It’s also a multiplayer game, so up to eight friends can team up to survive and thrive together in Moria.

In time for the holidays, Return to Moria’s latest update also brought the free Holiday Yule-tide Pack, which includes festive food, decorations and lighting in-game.

PC gamers will have a week to claim the game for free, and once it’s in your library, it’s yours to keep.

Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria usually costs £20.99 / $24.99, so grabbing the game completely free is quite the bargain.

To get Return to Moria, you will need an Epic Games Store account, which is also free to make.

Head to the Epic Games Store and look for the Free Games section on the homepage.

You can also claim the game from the Epic Games launcher app, which you will also need to download on your PC to play the game.
