I thought I’d try heatless curls but I got totally mugged off.. my mum said I looked like a blonde King Charles II

Occasional Digest - a story for you

HEATLESS curls have become all the rage in the beauty community – and rightly so, as this method gives you the perfect bounce without any damage.

That is, if done correctly, as one woman, Holly Morridge, recently learnt the hard way.

Standing in front of the mirror in her bathroom, the young woman slowly began removing the four chunky fabric rollers she’d put into her mane hours earlier.

Although after the taking out the first two the hairdo seemed relatively promising, it all went downhill when she got to the back section – and then the most important part, the bangs.

With her long blonde tresses now in bouncy waves that almost looked like she’d just come out of a salon, Holly began unwrapping the roller from her fringe.

”Okay, moment of truth,” the beauty lover appeared slightly nervous before realising the major mistake she had made.

Instead of rolling the heatless curls backwards and away from her forehead, Holly had rolled them inwards – a grave error which made for a wave-like effect on her made.

Totally mortified and lost for words, she was aghast at the reflection in the mirror, saying: ”No.. No, no, no.”

Despite attempting to style the extra bouncy locks, Holly soon realised there was no saving the disastrous hairdo – which she reckoned made her look like Oliver Cromwell, former Lord Protector who’s regarded one of the most important figures in British history.

”Nothing will mug you off more than heatless curls you’re depending on,” Holly said in the video.

”I look like I am from the 1798.”

Unfortunately for Holly, things went from bad to worse because she discovered she didn’t have any time to fix the mess and needed to leave her home.

I couldn’t afford a Dyson Airwrap so my mum bought me the Aldi dupe – the curls are so big and bouncy, it’s incredible

After showing the epic fail to her mother, Holly was told she ”looked like a blonde King Charles II”.

Since being posted on the platform, where Holly posts under the username @holymorridge, the major flop has gone viral, winning her close to a staggering 3million views.

Thousands of social media users flooded to comments left in total stitches, with one joking: ”What’s your verdict, your honour?”

Another chimed in, saying Holly was ”in her Victorian era”.

Hairstyles that are kind to your locks

  1. Loose Braids: Opt for loose, soft braids rather than tight ones to minimise tension on the scalp and reduce breakage.
  2. Low Ponytail: A low ponytail is less stressful on your hair compared to high, tight ponytails. Use a fabric-covered hair tie to avoid snagging.
  3. Messy Bun: A relaxed, messy bun can be both stylish and kind to your hair. Avoid pulling your hair too tightly and use gentle hair ties.
  4. Soft Waves: Embrace your natural texture or use heatless methods to create soft waves, reducing the need for damaging heat styling tools.
  5. Half-Up, Half-Down: This style keeps some hair pulled back while leaving the rest down, reducing the strain on your scalp.
  6. Headbands and Scarves: Using headbands or scarves can keep hair out of your face without causing damage, and they can be quite fashionable.
  7. Loose Plaits for Sleeping: Before bed, loosely plait your hair to prevent tangles and breakage overnight.

”Let me just say, I’ve been having the most depressing day of nonstop crying and this made me laugh so hard. Thank you, I really needed this,” a third wrote.”

”It’s giving little lad,” someone else was in hysterics.

Whilst Holly may have been horrified by the results, some reckoned that the hairdo wasn’t that bad and a little styling could’ve saved it.

”Honestly, I thought it was cute as heck, just needed some tousling,” a viewer said.
