SOME Sky customers will receive a much-needed channel boost this week to fill the void left by recent closures.
This year saw an exodus of music channels from Sky and Virgin Media, leaving quite a gap on both services.
4Music, The Box, Kiss, Magic and Kerrang! all ceased broadcasting over the summer.
The Box was the longest running of the bunch, having been on air for 32 years.
Owners Channel 4 revealed at the start of the year that it plans to make a number of cuts with 200 jobs going and selling its London HQ.
It forms part of a major five-year project to become a “digital-first” public streaming service by 2030.
Sky Glass and Sky Stream were particularly affected by the closures, with only four music channels left from MTV as a result.
But now five arrivals will finally make their way onto Sky’s internet-streamed products.
The group were already available on satellite services, so there’s no changes for Sky Q viewers.
One of the channels comes just in time for Christmas with all your favourite festive tunes.
It include all the NOW channels derived from the classic compilation CD brand.
There’s NOW 70s, NOW 80s, NOW ROCK and NOW XMAS.
NOW XMAS is usually NOW 90s and 00s but it rebrands over the Christmas period – NOW 90s and 00s will return in the new year.
The same broadcaster also runs Clubland TV which is coming to Sky Glass and Sky Stream too.
