Occasional Digest - a story for you

WITH less than a fortnight to go, the I’m A Celeb campmates will soon be jostling to be the next King or Queen of the Jungle.

From one of the country’s most famous WAGs to a former Love Islander and a much-loved soap star, this series is already gearing up to become one of the most explosive in recent memory.

Show bosses are said to have convinced Coleen Rooney to take part with an eye-watering £1.5million salary, which is said to be the most any celeb has ever been paid.

But like many of her fellow jungle-goers this year, she is already a big name, with huge star power and a staggering fortune.

From a star whose identity was STOLEN by a fraudster to a Love Islander who is already breaking the US market, we look at this year’s ultimate I’m A Celeb rich list.

Coleen Rooney

As one of the biggest I’m A Celeb signings, Coleen was paid a reported £1.5million to participate in this year’s series.

But that is a drop in the ocean for the star who has built an incredible brand for herself.

She is married to Wayne Rooney, one of the world’s most recognised footballers. Together, the couple has a £200million fortune.

But Coleen, 38, is not one to rest on her husband’s achievements. She has contributed an estimated £19million to their joint fortune.

The Liverpool-born mother-of-four has had an extensive TV career that dates back to 2006. In 2008, she starred in her own TV show, Coleen’s Real Women, which earned her the title of the country’s favourite girl next door.

She has also produced an exercise video, which became a bestseller and was paid £3million to spearhead a fashion campaign by George at Asda.

Coleen has also published several books, including her autobiography Welcome to My World in 2007 as well a others focusing on her style.

In 2022, after their Wagatha Christie libel trial, Rebekah Vardy, married to footballer Jamie, was ordered to pay 90 per cent of Coleen’s legal costs, said to be up to £1.5million.

In 2019, Coleen publicly accused Rebekah of leaking information from her private Instagram account to the media.

Rebekah denied the accusation and sued Coleen for defamation.

However, a judge sided with Coleen and ordered Rebekah to cough up the money to cover part of her legal bills.

Danny Jones will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of his McFly bandmate Dougie Poynter, who was crowned King of the Jungle in 2011.

According to reports, Danny, 38, was brought in as a replacement for former Love Island star Tommy Fury, who pulled out last month.

Danny has had an impressive career as part of McFly. The band has sold more than 10 million records worldwide. They’ve also scored seven number-one singles in the UK.

Thanks to his incredible career, he has a net worth of £4million.

Danny, who is married to former Miss England beauty queen Georgia Horsley, was listed as a director of the now-dissolved company McBusted LLP as part of McBusted, a collaboration between McFly and Busted.

He is also a partner in Super Records LLP with his McFly bandmates. The firm was set up in 2008 and handles their business dealings as a collective, although the firm held just £19,000 in assets last year.

Additionally, Danny was a judge on The Voice Kids and also sat in the big red chair in this year’s series of The Voice UK as part of the first judging duo with bandmate Tom Fletcher.

Since 1998, Alan Halsall has played the role of Tyrone Dobbs on Coronation Street.

The 42-year-old star has also appeared on other shows such as Queer as Folk, Children’s Ward, and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates.

Alan’s Corrie salary has been reported as £100,000 a year. His net worth is said to be over £4million – and he has no problem showing off his luxury lifestyle on social media.

He has given fans glimpses of his £750,000 mega mansion in Manchester, which boasts a huge cinema room.

Like his Corrie character, Alan is a car fanatic and owns a Mercedes-Benz SLS worth a whopping £175,000.

JUST when you thought this year’s I’m A Celebrity was going to be dominated by strong women – here’s an alpha male coming out swinging for the fellas.

Former featherweight boxer Barry McGuigan is a heavyweight addition to the jungle – and at 63 he just so happens to be the oldest too.

But, along with the signing of Melvin Odoom, he is really just the cherry on the cake because the line-up already looks like one of the best in the show’s history.

Star signing is unquestionably Coleen Rooney, with ITV bosses hoping (and praying) she’ll spill more beans about her Wagatha clash with Rebekah Vardy.

But there’ll be some serious feminine energy in the camp with Sun columnist and Loose Women star Jane Moore sharing fireside discussions with pop star Tulisa and dancer Oti Mabuse.

Perhaps the only thing missing this year is an obvious “villain of the piece” who’s likely to find themselves nominated for most of the stomach churning trials.

In recent years the jungle’s welcomed Seann Walsh, Matt Hancock and Nigel Farage, who’ve all hit the headlines for dubious behaviour.

But actually, the villains didn’t turn out to be the standout stars of IAC, and it’s still the less well-known celebs who emerge as unlikely heroes.

And despite big names dominating the buzz, my money is on Corrie’s Alan Halsall or the Rev Richard Coles as the dark horses of this year’s jungle

It’s been reported that he bought the luxury car to celebrate signing a new contract with the ITV soap.

On Companies House, Alan is listed as a director of Bowmore Investments Limited, with a fund management activities firm.

According to the firm’s latest filings, it has equity of nearly £1,939,925, an increase of nearly £320,000 from the previous year.

Last year, it was revealed that he was building a property portfolio and had purchased a three-bedroom terraced house for £100,000.

Back in 2010, Alan was left “furious” after a fraudster set up a Facebook account in his name to deceive his friends and family.

Maura is also said to be trying to break the US market. She served as the social ambassador of Love Island USA and held meetings with NBC network executives in May.

In 2016, Melvin participated in Strictly Come Dancing and was the first celebrity to get booted off.

In 2011, Tulisa was announced as one of the judges of The X Factor, alongside Kelly Rowland, Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh, in a deal said to be worth £500,000.

After two seasons on the show, she was sacked and replaced by Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger. It’s been reported that her net worth stands at £2.2million.

Tulisa set up Ask Your Man Limited in 2010 but dissolved the firm in July 2019.

In 2018, she won a legal battle after claiming she co-wrote Will.i.am and Britney Spears’ Scream and Shout. A judge ruled that she must get 10 per cent of all royalties from the song, which has sold 3million digital downloads worldwide.

Barry McGuigan, 63, has had an enviable boxing career. He won the WBA and lineal featherweight titles and held them from 1985 to 1986.

He was named BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year in 1985 and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2005.

Although his current net worth remains unknown, he has had several financial issues due to failed companies and a crippling £6million legal battle.

Earlier this year, it was reported that two companies linked to him were to be liquidated following meetings with their creditors.

Cyclone Promotions Ltd and McGuigan’s Gym Ltd were run by the boxer, his wife and their three sons. But eventually, most of them resigned as directors with his wife staying on.

In 2020, he was involved in a £6million legal battle from disputes over earnings with boxer Carl Frampton.

Carl sued Barry and Cyclone Promotions for allegedly withholding earnings and Barry also took the boxer to court, citing a breach of contract.

Both men vehemently denied the allegations against each other and eventually settled the case out of court. The terms of their settlement have not been publicly disclosed.

The Church of England vicar has also carved a successful career as a writer, musician and media personality.

Reverend Richard Coles, 62, first found fame as part of The Communards alongside Jimmy Somerville, who had been friends with him before joining the band.

He has opened up about his past wild life, saying he had a separate bank account just to pay his drug supplier.

Once unemployed and living from hand to mouth, his lifestyle drastically changed in 1985 when his band was given a £60,000 advance payment for signing a recording contract.

According to him, a church service in St Albans inspired him to find God and become a vicar.

After announcing his decision to retire in 2022, it was reported that he was set to move into a stunning £950,000 home in West Sussex.

As well as an autobiography, Fathomless Riches, the Rev is the author of a series of bestselling crime books.
