The UK Foreign Office has issued a travel advisory for several winter sun destinations amid ‘ongoing hostilities’ in the Middle East.
It could also affect North Africa.
The Foreign Office said the ‘situation is changing fast’ across the region and is advising caution in Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco.
The advisory covers 19 countries: Egypt, Bahrain, Algeria, UAE, Tunisia, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Israel, The Occupied Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Oman, Morocco, Libya, Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Lebanon.
British nationals in Lebanon have been told to leave after 700 people have been killed in the past week.
“Ongoing hostilities between Israel and Lebanon could escalate quickly and pose risks for the wider region. Monitor this travel advice and other media as the situation is changing fast,” the FCDO said.
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recommended airlines to avoid flying in Lebanon and Israel airspace.
Most foreign airlines have halted Israel flights.
“EASA will continue to closely monitor the situation, with a view to assess whether there is an increase or decrease of risks for EU aircraft operators,” the agency said.
