Whitlock Jr. was only named to the Group B line-up as a late replacement for Shane Hayward.

But he sprinkled his own magic to proceedings with a stunning 9-dart leg against David Wawrzewski.

Mason finished off the incredible sequence with a treble 15 and double 18, a favourite finish of his PDC star dad.

Despite falling to a 4-3 defeat in the match, the youngster went for history again against Bram van Dijk.

He hit two maximums, setting up another double 18 for an unprecedented two 9-darters in one night.

Mason’s arrow fell just short – but he’d already done enough to win over fans both in the crowd and at home.

One gasped on X: “A chip off the old block. Fantastic stuff.”

Another commented: “Exactly the same throw as his dad.”

Whitlock Jr. only debuted in the Modus Super Series earlier this year.

His heroics brought back memories of his dad’s infamous perfect leg against Andy Hamilton in the 2012 Premier League.

Mason admitted following the dramatic night: “I kind of just blacked out after I hit [the nine-darter].

“I didn’t even realise I hit it. But I think it was the worst thing for that match at the time.

“My hands were shaking, my legs went weak. Honestly, I was so nervous after that.”

Asked about his dad’s iconic double 18 checkout, he added: “I think it’s the best way.

“[On] 81 I’ll go 15s as well. I just love double 18.”

Australian star Simon is renowned for his flamboyance at the Oche and has been known to hit three bullseyes to take out 150.

He is widely regarded as the greatest Aussie player of all time and has helped rejuvenate darts Down Under.

A former BDO and PDC world finalist, The Wizard – recognisable by his long beard and flowing locks – secured a career highlight in 2022 when he won the World Cup of Darts.
