The Indian Grand Prix will not return to the MotoGP calendar until 2026, organisers have announced.
In July, MotoGP said an agreement had been signed with Uttar Pradesh, the northern state where the Buddh International circuit is located.
Grand Prix races had been scheduled to take place at the circuit in each of the next three seasons, but this has now changed.
“Operational circumstances have obliged the event to be delayed from its initial slot near the start of the 2025 calendar,” MotoGP said.
“With no available dates towards the end of the season, MotoGP will therefore return to India in the early stages of 2026.”
MotoGP did not, in its initial announcement, offer detail about the circumstances that have led to the postponement.
The Indian Grand Prix, which was dropped from this year’s calendar, will now be a reserve event for the 2025 season.
Italian Marco Bezzecchi won the inaugural Indian Grand Prix at Buddh in 2023 when more than 100,000 fans attended.
The race had to be shortened by three laps to 21 due to hot and humid conditions during practice sessions.
Next year’s event was scheduled to take place in March when weather conditions were expected to be more suitable.
