England levelled their three-Test series with world champions Australia with a dramatic 61-59 win in Sydney.

England and Australia drew two of the first three quarters, with Australia winning the second by two points.

Although the Roses took a brief one-point lead late in the third quarter, hosts Australia went into the final period 45-43 ahead.

A series of defensive turnovers for England saw them take the final quarter by five points and win the Test by two points, recording their first win over the Diamonds since last year’s World Cup.

England took the lead in the final quarter with just over three and a half minutes remaining in the match.

“Just amazing. It felt like we knew we could do it,” England’s player of the match Funmi Fadoju told Fox Sports.

“We went up there and did it and I’m so proud of us.

“We just kept pushing, we kept going down and going up. Both teams went out there with all they had and I’m so proud of both sides.”

Having lost the first Test 70-57 on Thursday, victory for England sets up a series-deciding final Test on Wednesday in Bendigo, Victoria.

England then head to New Zealand for another three-match series, starting in Auckland next Sunday.
