THE FIRST female Israeli soldier was killed fighting Hamas in Gaza, it was announced yesterday.
Staff Sgt Agam Naim, a 20-year-old paramedic, died alongside three comrades in an explosion.
The soldiers, from the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion, had entered a booby-trapped building in the Tel Sultan neighbourhood of Rafah in southern Gaza.
Their deaths brought Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas to 348 since October 7.
Naim’s aunt Muriel told news outlet Walla: “Her parents were very afraid of her service.
“She came for advice, and there was a big family conversation when she was sent to Gaza.
“In the end, we told her to follow her heart, and she said something I’ll never forget.
“She said that she wouldn’t be able to look into the eyes of the mothers of her comrades if they were going to Gaza and she wasn’t there to take care of them.”
