Dundalk FC: Discussions ongoing in bid to secure future of Irish Premier Division club

Occasional Digest - a story for you

A Dundalk FC spokesman said on Monday that “negotiations are continuing” between their owner and potential investors as they aim to secure the future of the League of Ireland Premier Division club.

A statement released by the county Louth outfit on Sunday had indicated that talks were at a “critical time” as owner Brian Ainscough held discussions with “different groups, domestically and overseas” to ensure the club’s survival.

The conversations are being held in the context of Dundalk sitting bottom of the league table and in danger of relegation from the top flight, while there have been issues at the club regarding staff not being paid in recent weeks.

Players and coaching staff are understood to have received unpaid wages they were owed by the club last Thursday.

Ainscough only took control of the club late in 2023 but last week revealed that reports of financial difficulties at the club are true, external.

The Dundalk club spokesman said on Monday that the owner is “still fighting the fight to make sure there’s a club for everyone going forward”.
