Tesco is launching the sale next week to help parents plan their Christmas spending early.

The official launch date is Monday, September 16, the supermarket told The Sun.

The sale runs for six weeks, until November 3, in 270 Tesco stores

Some of the toys in the sale, run for the supermarket by The Entertainer toy shop, will cost as little as £3, Tesco said.

Brands that feature in the sale include children’s favourite Barbie, Peppa Pig, Early Learning Centre, Paw Patrol, Hot Wheels, and Fugglers.

Tesco said stores will feature up to 168 toys up for sale – but the actual amount of items you’ll find on the shelves depend on availability and the size of the store.

But always remember to look around for the best deals as you might find the items cheaper elsewhere.

You can use tools like Google shopping to compare prices, simply search the product you want to buy.

Pauline Chisholm, who is Tesco’s head of home and clothing strategy and partnerships, said: “We think that the sale will be great news for parents – through our new toy partnership with The Entertainer we want to make it easier for them to spread the cost of buying Christmas presents.

Inside Tesco’s Christmas Showcase

“The Entertainer has curated a great range of the most popular and latest toys for children of all ages for the sale, with big name brands such as Hot Wheels, Barbie, Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol.

“At least 90 per cent of all toys in the sale will be on sale for up to half price with many discounted even further.”

Andrew Murphy OBE, group chief executive officer at The Entertainer, said: “Following The Entertainer’s roll-out across hundreds of Tesco stores, customers can now find their favourite toys at even better value through the ‘Up to Half-Price Sale’.

“There’s a fantastic range available, from the big brands people love and our incredible value Addo range through to child development centred toys from Early Learning Centre.

“We’re delighted to offer Tesco shoppers convenient and easy access to toys for every budget, alongside their weekly shop.”

Below are some of the toys that are set to be part of the Tesco sale.

Hot Wheels Action Vertical Jump

  • Was: £20
  • Reduced to: £10
  • Saving: £10 (50%)

The Hot Wheels jump track set allows children to race and stunt on two different paths.

The set comes with one Hot Wheels toy vehicle to get racing straight away – and you can then add more to your collection.

The Entertainer says the game is suitable for children aged five and over and children under 36 months shouldn’t be allowed to use it as it could be a chocking hazard.

Tesco’s price is currently the lowest, as Amazon is selling it for £35.99.

Paw Patrol Chase 30cm Soft Toy

  • Was: £29.99
  • Reduced to: £14.99
  • Saving: £15 (50%)

This soft toy, made with soft materials and measuring 30cm, is suitable for children aged three or over.

It could be an addition to your children’s Paw Patrol collection – or just a one-off item to add to their toys.

While Tesco has it on sale at £14.99, we’ve found it cheaper at Argos, where it costs £10 – and it’s also part of a 2 for £15 deal, meaning you could save even more.

Monopoly Animal Crossing Board Game

  • Saving: £8.24 (75%)

In this board game, players can enjoy island life inspired by the Nintendo Switch video game Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Children will move around the board with four tokens, completely tasks and meeting other characters.

Currently, Tesco’s offer is the best on the market, as the same board game costs more at other retailers.

For example, Amazon is selling it for £13.99, GAME is selling it for £24, and Argos has it listed for £33.

Peppa Pig Adventures Everyday

  • Saving: £15 (60%)

Peppa Pig is loved by children – and this game, featuring an aquarium playset, is ideal for pre-schoolers.

It includes characters and accessories to bring adventures to life, but due to its small pieces it’s not suitable for children under 36 months.

From Monday, Tesco will sell this game for £10, which currently seems to be the cheapest price.

Asda sells the same toy for £25 – the same price as Tesco before the discount – and Amazon currently has it on sale for £17.36.

Bakugan Battle Arena Playset

How to bag a bargain

SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…

Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.

Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.

Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.

Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.

Sign up to mailing lists and you’ll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.

When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.

Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.

Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.

And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.
