The gritty Dublin based series follows the story of the fictional Kinsella family who is entangled in gang warfare.

It rapidly rose to the top of iPlayer charts, and fans have been eagerly awaiting news on a third season after the latest one aired in 2023.

Reports previously surfaced that the actors’ contracts expired after a three year deal, leaving the future of the show uncertain.

But a recent statement from Emmett J Scanlan has reignited hope that Kin might make a comeback.

During a stint on This Morning, the actor – who plays Jimmy Kinsella – hinted at ongoing negotiations for the third season of the drama.

When show hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard asked about the future of the show, he shared: “I don’t know if there’s going to be a season three, it hasn’t been green lit yet.

“There is a little bit of a, I don’t know if I’m stepping out of line when I say this, but there’s maybe even a bidding war. There is a lot of interest.”

The actor’s comments have fueled speculation that major networks or streaming platforms may be vying for the rights to continue the hit series, following its strong performance on both the BBC and Netflix.

While official confirmation is yet to be made, Emmett expressed his enthusiasm for the possibility of reprising his role, saying: “I hope it comes back again, I’d love to take on the role of Jimmy again. I loved it.”
