FOR years she was reading out the headlines on the BBC news, now Kate Silverton has a breaking story about her own career.
The broadcaster turned her back on TV work three years ago to retrain as a child therapist — but she’s hoping to be back on our screens with a show based around her new counselling skills.

Similar to Supernanny — the Channel 4 show that saw Jo Frost giving advice to struggling parents — it will feature Kate helping overwhelmed mums and dads.
A TV insider said: “It will see her try to help families who are in need of expert advice and won’t mind being filmed while it’s happening.
“Although it’s just a pilot and hasn’t yet been attached to a specific channel, or a streamer, it’s expected to be well received.
“It may not end up with the title of Supernanny but certainly does sound very much like the cult Channel 4 show.”
An appeal for families who might want to be in the show has been put out by KEO Films — a production firm with a history of creating serious documentaries for a variety of channels.
It states that participants would be thrown a life-line by mother-of-two Kate, who now describes herself as “a parenting expert and child counsellor”.
She left the Beeb in 2021 to pursue what she called her “life’s passion”.
She said: “My academic background is in child psychology, and becoming a mum really inspired me, too.
“My journey has really been decades long, both in understanding more about children’s mental health, and as a parent really benefiting from all the interviews and access to advice I was given by incredible people.”
I can’t think of anyone better suited than Kate to do this new show.

ROB Beckett is struggling to see the funny side of signing up to the Gladiators celebrity special.
The comic, who will take on TV host Joel Dommett in the episode, out around Christmas, said: “I’m scared and I feel like the fat kid at school all over again.
“There is a point that I have a panic attack and cry at the top of the zip wire. They’d said to me, ‘You’re not clipped on for the zip wire’. So I said, ‘Well, I’m going to have to be’.
“I was like, ‘How far’s the drop?’. They said, ‘30ft!’.
“I had a slight argument with production. Don’t get me wrong, I need to earn a pound note, but I’m mostly doing this because my children love Gladiators.
“But if you lie to me about this height, I will f*** off.”
FREDDIE: ME AND ADHD
RACING across the world with dad Jeff has revealed a candid side of Freddie Brazier.
After last week discussing his late mum Jade Goody on the BBC One show, tonight he opens up about taking just two GCSEs.
He says: “I was the kid in class who wasn’t the same. I struggled, my concentration wasn’t the best.
“I was a joker. At ten, I got diagnosed with ADHD. Teachers had noticed I was fidgety. I didn’t mean to misbehave but didn’t really cope. I didn’t think I was bad, but I weren’t good.”
On Celebrity Race Across The World, Freddie and Jeff are taking on Kelly Brook and hubby Jeremy Parisi, Radio 2 DJ Scott Mills and husband Sam Vaughan, and Ted Lasso’s Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen.
The latest leg sees them try to travel from Brazil to Argentina, with no planes, phones, internet or bank cards.
