She was convicted of another newborn baby’s attempted murder last month following a retrial.

The 34-year-old is serving 15 whole-life orders for the offences and will die in prison.

Now Netflix is understood to be working with ITN to make a documentary about Letby.

A source told the Mirror: “This is sure to be hugely controversial, the show will be watched the world over.”

They added: “The people at the heart of this story are utterly devastated.

“Families of those involved in the case will desperately hope this programme treads extremely carefully.”

Producers have reportedly emailed experts – telling them the documentary will show Letby’s “defence and point of view”.

Judges have denied Letby, 34, from Hereford, leave to appeal her convictions.

Lady Justice Thirlwall is due to open a public inquiry on September 10 into the case.

It comes after The Sun revealed Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio is developing a drama based on Letby.

Sophie Turner and Jodie Comer are among a handful of top actresses in the frame to take on the extremely challenging role.

The show is being made with the help of hospital consultant paediatrician Dr Ravi Jayaram, who blew the whistle on Letby.

A TV insider: “Jed sees this as an important story that should not just be chronicled in a drama but also explored.

“It aims to try to explain how her crimes could have gone on for so long and how others tried to act when suspicions were raised.

“Bagging a high-profile name to play Letby would help give the show the attention it deserves too, but it’s not a role to take lightly.”
