Ugarte joy at sealing move

Manuel Ugarte HAS finally completed his switch from PSG to Manchester United in a £50million deal, writes NEIL CUSTIS.

The deal was completed too late for him to be involved in the match-day squad for Liverpool on Sunday. He needed to be registered by 12 noon on Friday.

But while United boss Ten Hag was celebrating the arrival of the defensive midfielder he was not happy that financial rules meant he had to sell home grown Scott McTominay to Napoli to facilitate the move..

Ugarte, 23, was delighted to make the move.

He said: “It is an incredible feeling to join a club of this magnitude; one that is admired all around the world.

The project that the football leadership discussed with me is extremely exciting; Manchester United is an ambitious club and I am an ambitious player.

“The passion of supporters is something that is very important to me; I know how incredible United fans are and I cannot wait to experience Old Trafford.

“I’m someone who is so determined to succeed; I will sacrifice and give everything for my teammates.

“Together we will fight to win trophies and reach the level where this club needs to be.”
