DANNY Jones was launched into the spotlight in the boyband McFly when he was just a teenager. He has had quite the career since and is now joining The Voice as a judge. Here’s everything you need to know.
Who is Danny Jones?
Danny Jones is a musician originally from Bolton, Greater Manchester. He was a founding member of the band McFly, alongside Tom Fletcher. After placing an advert in NME magazine, the pair recruited Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter. He has been performing with the band since 2003, with their first album, Room On The Third Floor, being released in 2004.
Their first two singles – 5 Colours In Her Hair and Obviously – topped the charts, a feat they achieved five more times with All About You, I’ll Be OK, Don’t Stop Me Now, Star Girl, and Baby’s Coming Home. McFly continue to release music and even formed the supergroup McBusted with Matt Willis and James Bourne from Busted for one-album released in 2014.
When did Danny Jones win The Masked Singer?
On February 17, 2024, Danny Jones was crowned winner of The Masked Singer. After much speculation and fan theories, the star was revealed to be Piranha.
Speaking straight after victory, Danny said: “It feels surreal. Everything about this show and everything about what I’ve just done is completely surreal! “I have become a Piranha, and no longer Danny Jones!”
Is Danny Jones a judge on The Voice UK?
Hot off the heels of his big win, Danny was announced as one of the new judges on The Voice UK. After impressing on the kids version of the show, the singer will be a judge alongside his McFly pal, Tom Fletcher. The duo will share a chair alongside country superstar LeAnn Rimes, who has officially now signed up to replace Anne-Marie, whilst Sir Tom Jones and Will.i.am remain. Talking about their new job, Danny and Tom said: “To be making The Voice UK history as the first ever double chair combo is going to be epic and we’re both ready for the challenge. “And of course, we couldn’t ask to be in greater company than our fellow Voice family members Will, Sir Tom and LeAnn. “Roll on the talent.” It comes after The Sun revealed that for the first time ITV bosses had hired a pair for the empty chair. A source said: “This marks an exciting new change for the show that will shake up the format and keep it fresh as it moves into a new era.”
Is Danny Jones married?
Danny has been married to long-time partner Georgia Horsley since 2014. Georgia is a former Miss England, winning the beauty pageant in 2007. Danny proposed to Georgia during a holiday in Cyprus in 2013. They married the next August in Georgia’s hometown in North Yorkshire The guests included Ellie Goulding, who sang her hit How Long Will I Love You? for the couple’s first dance. McBusted, the supergroup of Busted and McFly, also played towards the end of the celebrations.
Does he have children?
Georgia and Danny have a son who was born in 2018. Cooper Alf Jones arrived on January 27 after a dramatic birth. Speaking to Hello magazine, Georgia revealed she was having a bath when she suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to push. She said: “I thought this baby is going to be born at home in the bath… or in the car. “When we got to the birthing suite, I skidded in like Del Boy and Rodney, grabbed the first wheelchair I could find but it had a dodgy wheel so I ended up going round and round in circles. “I was sat with my hands between my legs trying to hold in the baby.” “All our plans for having lavender burning to keep us calm and our favourite music playing went out of the window!” Cooper was born just 36 minutes after the couple arrived at the hospital at 1.36am in the morning.

In August 2022, Danny took part in Celebrity MasterChef in which he placed in the final three, with Lisa Snowdon winning the competition. Danny has also been a coach on The Voice Kids since 2017. His next project is joining the 2024 series of The Voice.
