ED Balls has revealed he’s taking a break from Good Morning Britain after the show was hit by thousands of Ofcom complaints from angry viewers.
Last week GMB received more than 8,000 complaints relating to 57-year-old Ed’s interviews with Labour MP Zarah Sultana and his own wife Home Secretary Yvette Cooper over the far right riots.
Now former politician Ed has confirmed he’ll be off screens for a while, but will return with Susanna Reid when her summer break ends next month.
Sharing a snap showing him holding a pavlova, he wrote: “What better way to celebrate the start of summer holidays than with a pavlova – our family favourite.
“Loved working with Kate [Garraway] last week during such national turbulent times. I’m back with Susanna at the beginning of September when schools and Parliament return – see you soon.”
Last week viewers hit out on social media and branded the interviews “surreal” and “vile” before lodging complaints to telly watchdog Ofcom.

Some called for Ed to be sacked following a heated debate with Zarah, 30, over the interpretation of her comments about the current UK rioting.
During the same episode Ed cross-examined his own wife in what viewers branded a “surreal” moment and they accused him of going “low ball” on Yvette, 55.
Others believed Ed and his co-host Kate Garraway showed a bias towards her as a result of their personal connection.
Today viewers called for another hosting shake-up when Trisha Goddard made her presenting debut on the show.
Fans loved seeing Trisha, 66, so much that many called for her to replace Kate and Susanna.
One wrote: “I am loving Trisha presenting on GMB!”
Another said: “Can i just say having Trisha on is fantastic. She bloody knows what she’s talking about. Get rid of Kate Garraway.
Someone else wrote: “Petition to replace Susanna Reid with Trisha.”
And a fourth added: “Trisha is a terrific presenter.”
