England midfielder Katie Zelem has signed for US side Angel City following her departure from Manchester United.
Zelem joined United when they relaunched their women’s team in 2018 and was club captain from the 2019-20 campaign and helped them to lift last season’s FA Cup.
She made 161 appearances in all competitions for the club and scored 32 goals, but left United when her contract expired in June.
The 28-year-old said her move to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side on a two-year deal is an “exciting new challenge”.
“The opportunity to compete in the NWSL, one of the most competitive leagues in the world, is a huge step in my career,” she said.
“I’m eager to test myself in a new league, against top players whilst contributing to the success of this ambitious club.”
Zelem was part of the England team who finished as runners-up at the 2023 Women’s World Cup, making two appearances for the Lionesses in Australia.
