Chelsea looked bright in stages but lacked a killer instinct in front of goal with some good individual performances.

Here is how Jack Figg rated the Blues.

Robert Sanchez – 5

Started in place of new signing Filip Jorgensen but was given little chance of preventing Inter’s opening goal. Looked nervy on the ball at times.

Malo Gusto – 7

Drifted into midfield to make a diamond at times. Produced some good chances down the right when given the freedom to go forward.

Wesley Fofana – 6

Produced an excellent tackle on Joaquin Correa and looks to be finding his feet again after being ruled out last season through injury.

Levi Colwill – 5

Lost Thuram for the goal and showed more signs of hot-headedness after clashing with Inter’s Francesco Acerbi off the ball. Hit the post after the break and almost levelled.

Marc Cucurella – 6

Looked energetic on the left and produced some good crosses into the box. Comfortable on the ball in midfield in a sign he could be preferred to Ben Chilwell under Maresca.

Enzo Fernandez – 5

Captained the side as he looks to move past his recent race storm. But the Argentine lacked creativity on the ball with his place in the starting 11 under question.

Romio Lavia – 6

Looked controlled in the deep-lying role and could be key to allowing Chelsea’s more advanced midfielders to shine this season.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 6

Made some good runs into the box but found himself short of space at times to get a good shot off.

Noni Madueke – 7

Bright on the right flank but was without any link up play. Will be sweating his future amid the arrival of Pedro Neto.

Mykhailo Mudryk – 5

Showed bright sparks of energy on the ball but it often lead to little. Good promise but lacking final product.

Marc Guiu – 6

Very aggressive up front on and off the ball. Almost caught out Inter keeper Yann Sommer on the ball.
