Transport for Wales are offering out the discounted tickets to allow people to tour North Wales all the way to South Wales or anywhere in between.

The unlimited off-peak rail travel tickets can be bought as either a bumper four day pass or as a single day of travel.

Dubbed “Explore Wales”, the best multi-day passes cost £149 for adults and £74.50 for children – a far cry from the usual prices for travel.

Elsewhere, four-day tickets labelled “Explore North and Mid Wales” and “Explore South Wales” are also on offer for lower prices.

“Explore West Wales” and “Explore Cambrian” alternatively offer travellers a chance for unlimited travel for one-day.

Included in the passes is also travel on selected TrawsCymru bus routes.

All the tickets are valid for transport after 9:30am between Monday and Friday as well as all day on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Transport for Wales hope the offer will give customers a chance to head off around the country exploring more connections.

Passes are available on the Transport for Wales website or app, and from ticket offices or onboard from a conductor.

Those with railcards can find even bigger discounts on travel.

The world’s happiest cities to visit – and one is in the UK

Partnership marketing manager at TfW, Victoria Leyshon, said: “Wales is a beautiful country to explore with lots of attractions and these unlimited rail passes provide visitors and local people with the opportunity to explore using the railway.

“The selection of passes available allow customers to travel from North Wales to South Wales with stops in between, or simply to explore just one region.

“There’s a pass available for everyone and we hope to encourage people to use them and travel sustainably.”

It comes as a brand new five-day steam train holiday is due to set off across the UK later this year.

Guests on board will be taken along some of the most scenic rail routes in Wales.

Passengers on the “trip of a lifetime” will have breakfast and hotels stays included in the price of their trip, that takes in two capital cities, as well as extensive stretches of countryside and a national park.

Meanwhile, this is one of the best overnight train journeys in the world.

And this scenic train route is in the UK and costs just £23.

Three scenic train journeys you can take in the UK

The UK is full of great train journeys, including some with scenic views.

  1. The West Highland Line in Scotland has previously been dubbed the best rail journey in the world, thanks to its breathtaking views overlooking mountain landscapes, serene lochs and wistful moors. Tickets start from £19.50.
  2. The East Coast Main Line from Durham to Edinburgh is another popular railway route. Passengers on this train will be treated to views of Durham Cathedral, the Angel of the North, and the King Edward VII Railway Bridge. Tickets start from £24.50.
  3. The train from St Erth to St Ives only has one stop on its route, which is complete with sea views. Tickets start from £3.
