Redditor Xosunshine_01 shared the anti-aging tip in a post.

She revealed that drinking white tea regularly worked wonders for her friend.

“I know someone who’s 45 years old and has a child but still looks 25 because of drinking Chinese white tea almost every day,” she said.

She added that while it proved to be effective for her friend, she used it in conjunction with sun protection.

“Don’t forget to use sunscreen, too, every day.”

After skincare fans prodded about the specific type of tea, she revealed the liquid elixir to be silver needle white tea and white peony tea.

“She advised me to mix it with jasmine tea, too, to add fragrance,” she said.

“They actually taste so sweet.”

Since incorporating the drink into her diet, she found that she no longer feels the need to drink coffee.

“It has better health benefits than coffee, so I changed my coffee breaks [to] tea times,” she said.

While silver needle and peony tea may be hard to find, her friend relies mostly on white and flower teas, such as jasmine and rose.

“I searched about white tea, and it really protects the skin from aging,” she said.

The Redditor explained that she’s a firm believer in nourishing beauty from the inside out.

“It’s really better to treat yourself to what you intake than putting products on your skin,” she said.

Benefits of white tea

Studies have shown that consuming white tea is linked to various health benefits, including a lowered risk of heart disease and skin-aging.

Experts at Healthline explained that white tea is rich in antioxidants, which help fight free radicals and help prevent skin inflammation.

Compounds in white tea can also provide anti-aging benefits.

“In one study, scientists discovered that applying white tea extract to the skin helped protect against the harmful effects of the sun’s UV rays,” said Ryan Raman, a registered dietitian.

“Many studies have found that polyphenols, which are found in white tea, can suppress several cellular components that may damage the fiber network that helps the skin stay tight and firm.”

On top of aesthetic benefits, drinking white tea can help improve general health, with studies linking it to lowered risks for Parkinson’s, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer’s.

The philosophy has already earned her tangible skincare benefits.

“In my experience, I felt less bloated and less oily,” she said.

To keep up with the habit, she recommended skincare enthusiasts invest in a portable tumbler to take tea on the go.

“If you’re working on-site, there are available tea tumblers in online stores. You can sip your loose-leaf tea while working,” she said.

She reminded beauty fans to properly prepare their tea before use.

“Don’t forget to wash tea first with white tea,” she said.
