Occasional Digest - a story for you

Northern Superchargers and Southern Brave recorded the first tie in The Hundred women’s competition in a low-scoring thriller at Headingley.

The Superchargers required three to win off the final delivery, but batter Kate Cross could only scamper through for two after driving to long-on.

In a repeat of last year’s final defending champions Brave lost wickets at regular intervals and could only post 100-8, with Chloe Tryon top-scoring with 25.

The Superchargers cruised through much of their chase and needed just 19 from their final 20 balls.

But Lauren Bell, who finished with her tournament-best figures of 4-11, took the crucial wicket of Alice Davidson-Richards (27 off 22) and conceded only six runs off her final five deliveries.

Given Superchargers’ advantage through much of the chase Brave will be the happier with the result, although both teams remain without a win in this season’s competition after losing their openers.
