Occasional Digest - a story for you

ALDI shoppers are rushing to snap up products from their new easy Asian-inspired “fakeaway” range.

With most products in the range coming in at less than a £1, the new series includes Vietnamese spring rolls, sweet & sour rice and Thai pork steaks.

The new range includes two different rice and noodle flavours, the pork cutlets and a kit for making your own spring rolls at home.

Available in Aldi stores and online already, the low-cost series is likely to be a hit.

The popular bargain supermarket says customers can “indulge in flavours from all four corners of Asia from the comfort of their own home” with the new items.

Their selection of noodles come in udon and ramen options, 85p for 300g, which can both be added straight to the pan.

The Thai pork loin steaks, £2.99 for 440g, come already marinated in a “sweet, spicy and sour Thai rub”.

And the Vietnamese spring roll kit, £2.49 for 200g, promises to see your plate full in less than 15 minutes.

But customers will have to add the fish or meat and veg, as the kit only comes with rice paper and dipping sauce.

Aldi said of the new offering: “From pouch to plate in just 15 minutes, these rolls are the perfect side dish to any main dish. Simply add beansprouts, meat, fish or vegetables.”

Shoppers have three rice options to choose from, satay, sweet & source and black bean, all 75p for 200g.

The bargain supermarket did warn customers to move quickly.

They said: “Aldi’s Asian range is available in stores and online via Click & Collect from July 18.

“Shoppers better act quickly though, as with all Specialbuys, once they’re gone, they’re gone.”

Aldi recently dropped another limited range of nostalgic alcoholic drinks.

The budget supermarket’s range of uniquely-flavoured Taurus cider cans have been a hit with foodies so far this year.

The cocktail flavours of Pina Colada, Raspberry Mojito and Passionfruit Martini have already sold out in some stores, just two weeks after their release.

Now new flavours, inspired by lemon sherbert, strawberry laces and even bubblegum, have landed in stores.
