TEAM GB bosses are brewing up an Olympic medal storm – boosted by nearly 50,000 TEA bags.

The extraordinary detail behind Britain’s bid for gold, silver and bronze emerged from team bosses in Paris and supplier Aldi.

Brit athletes will be made to feel entirely at ease at their pre-Games bases on the outskirts of the French capital as well as the “performance lodge” in the suburb of Clichy.

And to make sure they miss none of their home comforts, team chiefs have left no stone unturned with an astonishing list of provisions for snacks and drinks.

It includes more than 47,000 English Breakfast tea bags, 200 big boxes of cornflakes, more than 1,000 boxes of muesli, 22,000 cereal bars and just under 1,000 bags of dried mango.

Over the five weeks of “kitting out” at Birmingham’s NEC, more than 85,000 articles of clothing and footwear were handed to athletes and the Team GB delegation.

That was enough kit and accessories to fill 21 arctic trucks, while the 327 Team GB athletes will be supported by 400 staff and volunteers.

The logistics exercise comes as athletes in the main Olympic Village have been told that Big Macs are OFF the menu.

Instead of the Golden Arches of McDonald’s, no longer part of the “Olympic family”, two Michelin starred chefs will be preparing meals.

Good news for those who fancy high-end French cuisine, less so for those who fancy 20 McNuggets and fries.

The McDonald’s ban comes despite it being the only thing on Usain Bolt‘s gold medal-winning menu in 2008.

Olympics legend Bolt claims he ate thousands of Maccies chicken nuggets while in China as he went on to win the 100m and 200m.

In Paris, the main dining area will offer starving Brits porridge for brekkie, while an on-site boulangerie is producing 480 metres of baguettes per day.

Games chiefs say it would measure “6km for the entire Olympics and Paralympics” if laid end to end.

Nearly 15,000 residents – around 10,500 of which are athletes – will be cramming into the Olympic village between July 26 and August 11.

To ensure the athletes feel at home, a number of provisions have been made by organisers.

One of these is the stocking of some 300,000 condoms, in theory enough for around two every day during the run of the Games.

A number of Olympic athletes have opened the door on their steamy lives behind-the-scenes when in camp, including huge sex orgies and parties.

London 2012 had claimed the title of “the raunchiest Games ever”, but the 150,000 condoms ordered paled in comparison to the 450,000 ordered for the Rio Games four years later.

Condoms have been laid on by organisers at every game since Seoul 1988, when it they were used to spread awareness of HIV and AIDS.

Even with an intimacy ban at Tokyo 2020 due to Covid-19, some 150,000 johnnies were handed out.
