A WEDDING officiant was mortified after a MOHzilla’s speech left everyone speechless.
The supposed friend turned into a fiend on the wedding day, leaving the bride bewildered.
CUT THE MIC
Redditor Bduncan19 has shared how her family takes turns officiating each other’s weddings.
With one successful wedding under her belt, she was ready to take charge of her cousin’s white-veiled occasion.
Her process included interviewing the bride’s closest friends for any “fun personal stories” they might have to share.
Upon meeting the maid of honor, however, things took a troubling turn.
“Her response was red flag number one. ‘I don’t know why she asked me to be her MOH. I really don’t have any cute stories, we just party together a lot’,” she said.
When she did open up, most of the stories were about one person – herself.
“She told me she was keeping the best things for her MOH speech. OK, that’s fine, I totally get that,” she said.
She was certainly not prepared for what would take place on the big day.
After “sentimental” and standout speeches from the parents and the best man, the MOHzilla was handed the mic.
The “self-centered nonsense” was the least of what was to come.
“Within the first 30 seconds, she said, ‘I am not sure why the bride asked me to be her maid of honor’,” she said.
“Most of her stories were either about herself or painted the bride in a negative light as a drunk bimbo party girl,” she continued.
“It was so cringe that everyone kept looking at each other with dropped jaws, like, did she really just say that.”
Even with a “good buzz,” the bride couldn’t help but start crying.
When the best man failed to get her to stop rambling on, a family member had to get the DJ to cut her mic.
NO GOING BACK
At first, she was willing to give her cousin’s MOHzilla the “benefit of the doubt,” even attributing her behavior to a bit too much drinking.
Her cousin, however, explained that this was “par for the course with her.”
The bride and her friend wound up fighting about the incident and are no longer on speaking terms.
Now, she wanted others to heed her advice.
“This girl had no idea that the day was not about herself. Brides and grooms, use this as a warning to make sure you really vet the person you are asking to stand up there and speak about you,” she said.
MORE TROUBLING TALES
Another user shared his own wedding day speech disaster story.
“I begged my best man for months to write an actual speech and not try to wing it,” he said.
“He promised he would but clearly didn’t. Rambling speech full of inside jokes that only I would recognize. It was a train wreck,” he continued.
Yet another Redditor had a theory for the Mohzilla’s behavior.
“Mohzilla is really all about taking center stage at someone else’s wedding. Embarrassing,” they said.
