WHEN Olympic fever takes hold five days from now, you can be in the starting blocks ready for some fun.
Whether you plan to watch the action with others, or are inspired to take up a new sport, there are loads of ways to get “ready, set, go!” for some Olympic excitement in your family life.

MINI MEDALLERS: Stage your own mini Olympics in your garden or local park.
You can start with discus — using a light frisbee instead.
Mark the landing spot with a bean bag, cone or even a rock then pace out the distance before awarding the gold medal — maybe a golden chocolate coin — for the longest throw.

FIND OTHER FANS: From Friday, head to one of the free public Fanzones around the country, from Bristol to Birmingham, Liverpool to London, where you can watch the Olympic action on big screens.
There will also be other activities, including visits from past and present GB athletes, and the Fanzones will operate from the opening cerem-ony to the closing ceremony on August 11.
PICTURE THIS: Are you not really that much into sport? Then get painting, sticking or drawing instead, from creating your own Olympic torch to making salt-dough medals.
