In her viral video, the TikTok user (@ocxsrnkw) revealed her son’s weight after being delivered via C-section.

She posted the information in response to another viral clip prompting parents of large babies to share their measurements.

The young mum explained that she went in for a scan at 37 weeks and learned that her baby was weighing in at 9lbs 15oz.

She made the decision to get a C-section, which was scheduled shortly after the ultrasound.

According to the woman, she ended up going into labour ahead of her scheduled surgery.

However, she said her doctor “strongly advised” she proceed with the C-section given the size of her son.

“I had a baby that was 12lbs 6oz,” the mum told her online followers.

She added that her son was so big that he didn’t fit into any newborn clothing.

“He came out of the hospital wearing zero to three month clothing and size one [nappies],” she revealed.

She explained that her baby boy has continued growing at a significant rate.

I was told bleeding after giving birth was normal – then I went to the loo and made a horrifying discovery

According to the young mum, her baby is now six months old and wearing 18-month clothing.

She included a picture of her son not long after he was delivered.

The baby appeared to be approximately the same size as the torso of the delivery room worker who held him up for the photograph.

Experts at UT Southwestern Medical Center explained the recommended guidance for performing C-sections on women with larger babies.

“Planned C-sections shouldn’t be performed unless the estimated fetal weight is 10 pounds or more in diabetic women or 11 pounds or more in other women,” they revealed.

Average baby size & what affects the size

Birth: 7lbs 8oz

One month: 9lbs 7oz

Up to three months: Up to 11lbs 5oz

Three to six months: Up to 17lbs 4oz

Six to nine months: Up to 20lbs 5oz

Nine to 12 months: Up to 22lbs 7oz

12 to 18 months: Up to 24lbs 1oz

18 months to 2 years: Up to 27lbs 5oz

Premature babies, born before 37 weeks, follow a different weight scale until two weeks after their original due date.

What can affect a baby’s weight?

Newborn babies carry extra fluid, meaning it’s common for them to lose seven to 10% of their weight in the first few days. This should be regained within the first two weeks.

Babies are likely to undergo significant weight gain in the first six months.

After this, their weight gain will slow down as they begin to move around more.

Other TikTok users shared their own big baby birth stories in the comments sections.

“My biggest baby was born at 35 weeks, weighing 11lbs 9oz,” revealed one woman.

“My husband was 13lb 9oz. I was terrified to have a baby that size,” said another viewer.

“Twins born at 36 weeks. 7 pounds 8 ounces, 7 pounds 4 ounces,” commented a third follower.

“My brother was 15lb, 9oz came out wearing a size one baby shoe. My mom said he looked like a Saint Bernard puppy, all feet and hands,” wrote another person.
